Testimonials

We are always delighted and grateful to hear how our puppies and dogs are doing in their "lifetime" homes.
Here are some excerpts from letters we have received over the years...

Laurie – we think of you everyday as we enjoy Cali and she is such a great addition to our family.

Lisa Galea

Just a quick note to show off how cute Hailey J is maturing. She is about as cute & cuddly as they come. We are enjoying her & spoiling her rotten. But very firm on discipline. She’s all potty trained and comes to you. Starting on a leash tomorrow. I forgot to mention VERY ACTIVE. We love her. She is the best dog so far. Thanks so much for such a wonderful line of breeding.

The Crocker’s

Just wanted to send off a quick note to you about how Ginger is thriving! We are so very much in love with her. She is a great dog! Probably, the best puppy I have ever had the joy of having. She continues to be very mellow, very well behaved and just wants to please us! Julia & she spend hours together – having FUN! Such is the life of a 6 year old child and puppy.

I picked up a puppy from you about 8 weeks ago to be trained for the Northstar Foundation. The puppy is leaving this weekend to go to his new family. I have to tell you how wonderful this puppy has been. You do a great job at what you do. He is so smart and trained very easily. I hope to be able to raise another puppy from your kennel in the future.

Cody is a real big boy now and I’m glad he trained so well as he is inside with two elderly cats when I am at home and he doesn’t bother them at all. All three dogs get along just fine and they often run and chase each other around the 1/4 acre that has been designated as their own.

Jim Johnson

Dear Laurie, here are a few pictures of Murphy. He lives it here with us and he is such a great addition to our family! He sleeps through the night – what a good boy! Thank you again – we couldn’t be happier!

The Norton Family

Laurie is one of the best breeders I have met…she is not only knowledgeable and dependable, her pups have awesome temperaments.

Patty Dobbs Gross

Mousse has adapted very well, and quite quickly, it didn’t take more than a few days for him to seem completely comfortable. He’s sleeping at my feet as I write this. Our life has been changed forever, and we are delighted. As first time pet owners, we had a lot to learn, but we have done so.

Jeana and Tim Carlson

Just wanted to let you know that Deuce passed his Canine Good Citizen test today. In other news, we have been working with CARDA (The California Rescue Dog Association) towards his becoming a wilderness Search & Rescue dog. We are still early in the program, but it looks like he has what it takes to make it through. Hopping to be mission-ready in nine months to a year. He’s a great god. 81 lbs. Very social and eager to please. Great breeding!

Tim Houweling

We wanted to give you some pictures of Tobago. She is such an angel! We recently took her camping and she could not get enough! She is definitely a water dog. She LEAPS in! We cannot wait for her to have a sister! Thanks for such a Wonderful Dog!

Jenelle & Steve Kilgannon

We just took this recent photo of ”the Girls” as we call them… aka… Jersie and Tobago. They are the most wonderful dogs ever and we get compliments many times when we are out with them. They are definitely people dogs and seem to think they are human and deserve the same privileges we have! We have had a great deal of fun with the girls and we thank you for the wonderful dogs. Jersie will make a great mother one day!

MacGregor wanted me to drop you a line for Mother’s Day seeing as you were his first Mommy. I must tell you Laurie, I would take your advice any day on what dog is the best choice for owner and pet. He is the most wonderful dog I have ever known. He is Mr. Mellow, and so loving.

Jime Hall

Caymer is doing great. He’s goat a great attitude and lots of “get go”. He has a high level of confidence which is terrific. Caymer is going to be a fine hunter and companion.

Tom Pecht

His name is Jake. I must say it has been a wonderful experience! Yes, there are times when he wants to test me. But overall, he is a amazing dog. We crate trained him and he quickly was house trained. Luckily he is not a chewer. He is progressing with his obedience training and absolutely loves going to the beach! I just returned from a long walk and received numerous compliments (i.e. appearance, temperament). I have recommended Kentfield Kennels to a few friends who are considering Labrador puppies.

Stephanie Gilbert

(Pride) started retrieving at about 5 mos. old. He did a couple of double retrieves, and even atttmpted a triple. Took him on his first guided hunt at 6 mos. old. The guide was totally impressed especially since he was so young. Thank you for Pride, we love him very much.

Libby is doing great. She has adjusted really well to her home. Frank and I feel absolutely blessed to have her in our lives. She is just so special. I have recently had one tragedy after another in my family and having Libby is such a comfort to me. She has been just the best companion anyone could wish her. All of my friends wish they had a dog just like her. So, Libby says thanks Mom, my new home is great, and we say thanks, Libby is great.

Marion and Frank

Dear Mom,

I am fine. I hope you are fine. Sorry I took so long to write you. The Hurley’s say I’m the best dog west of the Mississippi and I think they’re right. I took about 2 minutes to get adjusted to my new home. I sleep all night in my crate in the bedroom, and I haven’t had any accidents for quite a while. I never did poo poo in the house at all. I have a gazillion toys and love retrieving (maybe that’s why they call me a Labrador Retriever). I’ve grown lots and slimmed down some. I was 27# at my last vet visit. I don’t get my last parvo shot for a week so I’m still quarantined to the house and yard. I spend days in my dog yard and can go into my room in the barn through my dog door. Sometimes I like to play in the rain, though. The Hurley’s think I’m part otter because of the way I lay down and hold my chew toy in my front paws and the way I play soccer with my paws. I have a wonderful disposition and personality if I do say so myself, which I’m sure I got from you.

Love, Mollie

Dear Laurie, I have been meaning to write you about our male yellow lab puppy whelped by Kerry last February. It has been a very busy three months! We named our puppy Jake.

We are very pleased with him and consider him a treasured part of our family! He is smart, confident, generally calm and VERY handsome. Everyone we meet is emphatic about how beautiful he is and his coat has become a beautiful tawny color (darkened a bit as you said it would)...

He is very outgoing with people and other dogs indicating strong confidence and a well adjusted nature. I have had the luxury of spending lots of time with him in the early going and we had him meet many people early on and a few dogs we new had all shots updated and did not frequent dog parks. He is a wonderful family pet since he is very mellow, loving and tolerates constant handling by children. Since he is so smart, confident and beautiful I think he'd be a perfect show or hunting dog but I'm out of my realm there.

Regards, Neil Wilson
